You know, I always thought the guy was a tool, but this pushes me over the edge. I can't BELIEVE the a-hole did this. Unreal! This is the real Republican agenda... and we all know it. Yikes.

fruit punch and oxy
I am about to leave for the post office. Once there, I will pay for and deposit my manuscript to three more contests.
The line up:
Anhinga Prize for Poetry
Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize
Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize
If I were, by some astronomical over-coming of all statistical odds, to win one of these contests, the drinks are on me... once I regain my head and get off the ceiling.
Wish me luck.
In other news, this semester needs to be over.
Over and out.

Over the berries
Found a home for one of my favorite poems, "Tumbling Woman." Copper Nickel will be publishing it next year. Woohoo! Copper Nickel gets better with each issue, so I'm super psyched they took a chance on "Tumbling Woman" for an upcoming issue.
In other news, M is smiling today. That makes me so happy.
The semester is almost over. All that's left is grading portfolios for my comp class. After that, it's 'Vegas, here I come'!! And we just found out that we might, might be going to M's dad's place in Florida (where we went last May) for a little while in June. I would do anything to plop myself on a beach for a week... anything.

Octopi and Cuttlefish
M came home from the hospital today... after 9 days in that horrible place, the doc finally figured out some things. Nothing groundbreaking, but over the next few weeks she'll have two surgeries that will hopefully be of great help. We'll see. For now, it's just nice to have her at home. I missed my girl.
Found out today that I was named a Finalist in the 2007 Ruth Stone Prize in Poetry. That's kewl. The Spring issue of Hunger Mountain is out soon... I'm not in it, but some great people are.
I'm going to be reading at the "Graduate Writer's Series" at Penn State-Erie next week. I'm really excited about it. An honor to have been chosen to participate. Details:
Thursday, April 26
6 pm
The Campus Chapel
Penn State-Erie
Erie, PA
I'm reading with poet Jen Town, MFA Ohio State University and fiction writer Brett Finlayson, MFA Syracuse University.
Okay, pizza guy is here. More later.

Arranging God
So I'm toying with order and inclusion/exclusion in Young Teeth again.
When does tinkering with a manuscript become overkill?
How does one know when a manuscript is really done?
Doctor with M tomorrow morning, then conferences with my Freshman Comp students, then home to spend the rest of the day working on some writing and reading... and some much needed R&R.

Mmmmm, Bruschetta
Today is Bella's first birthday. Happy Birthday, my lil puppy!!! She's a good dog, even though she can drive me nutty from time to time.
I have a cold. I feel like jello. Weak and sore and yucky. And I'm still so tired even though I've been trying to catch up on sleep.
My bestest bud Amy sent me some comments on my ms. She's so great. I miss her.
Okay, I need some more medicine.
Happy Birthday, Bella!
